The custom 46' "Western Prince II" is a fast USCG certified twin-engine vessel that was originally built as an ocean going charter boat. It is large enough for safety and comfort, yet small enough for a more interactive trip with the crew, the wildlife and other guests.
Your whale watching and wildlife tour on the Western Prince II will be comfortable regardless of weather. The main seating area, which is outside in the fresh air, has cushioned seating and may be enclosed if the weather dictates. It has a "warm up" cabin with snacks and beverages available for purchase and a full walk-around viewing deck with a spacious forward deck, a favorite with photographers.
The Western Prince II offers extraordinary comfort and safety for a vessel of her size. Amenities also include a galley sink and a restroom. If you like your comfort but don't want to travel in a crowd, The Western Prince II is the whale watching vessel for you.
The Western Prince II is also a perfect choice for groups and private charters.

Western Prince was the first Whale Watching & Wildlife Tour operator on San Juan Island to use Biodiesel. We power the Western Prince II exclusively with B20, a 20% blend of Biodiesel and Petroleum Diesel. Although the cost for Biodiesel is significantly higher, we feel that it is our duty to help protect the magnificent environment we operate in. We are happy to be a leader in adopting the use of this alternative fuel.
The use of Biodiesel B20 reduces Unburned Hydrocarbons (smog/ozone) by 21%, Particulate Matter (respiratory disease) by 10%, and Carbon Monoxide (toxin) by 11%. The smell of the diesel exhaust fumes that can make some passengers ill are significantly reduced as well. Biodiesel is produced from vegetable oil meaning it is a truly renewable resource. In its pure form it is 10 times less toxic than table salt and 100% biodegradable. To learn more check out www.biodiesel.org.
